This guide is designed to help people who work with rescued animals to successfully transition them into forever homes.  Over the past decade the author has helped hundreds of animals, primarily dogs, recover from trauma, learn new behaviors, and become forever companions.  Through this experience, many lessons were learned and best practices recognized.  Much coaching was done with foster homes and adopters helping animals successfully transition.

The Awakened Heart

Acting on her passion for animals, the author shares 42 heartwarming stories of the dogs she has owned and some of the more than 300 dogs she has helped through dog rescue. Over a decade ago, she and her husband David began fostering shelter dogs, owner surrendered animals and puppy mill survivors. Coaching foster families through difficult transitions and helping adopters overcome unwanted dog behaviors, these dogs have taught her, and many others, important life lessons. Told through both the human perspective and that of Bennie, her canine companion, the stories demonstrate the resilience, companionship and faithfulness of these dogs in uplifting, humorous, and life changing ways. Each dog brought with them a lesson to be learned and left a paw print on their awakened hearts.
